If you peer through our doors, into the heat and the fire, you might conjure an image of a crystal maker — a fearless man with eyebrows scorched and callused lips... and you'd be right, sort of. You see, that's just part of it. In our world, we are all of us crystal makers. We are all, in our own way, stewards of an ancient craft, playing a role to support, blow, educate, finish, ship, cut, inspect, pack, mark, wash, engrave, polish, sell, wrap, market, track, present…everything we do we do with the soul of a crystal maker.
To keep a craft alive, it’s not enough to merely practice it. You must hand it on to others. Like all traditional crafts, that of a crystal maker demands an arduous apprenticeship. To become a master craftsman takes a full ten years. Since its founding in 1996, NovaScotian Crystal has designated five craftsmen on Canadian soil.
Our crystal always comes to you directly from us. You can shop from our showroom in Halifax, from our catalogue, or here on our website. There are no retailers in between. So however you buy it, you will always be dealing with one of us. If you need help choosing, or for whatever reason you are not completely delighted with your crystal, these are the people to talk to. They are keepers of the craft, masters of detail, and righters of wrongs.
However you receive your crystal, it will come in a state of grace — polished, inspected, and accompanied by the informative little extras we include to enhance your enjoyment. We’ll even have it engraved as requested. And if you can’t walk away with your crystal, not to worry, we’ll deliver it anywhere in the world. We pack it ourselves to make sure it travels under the best conditions. These are the people you can count on to deliver.
There are people who are rarely in the lime light, but always there making sure the bulbs work. The people who make things tick. From the raw sand to the finished piece in your hands, these are the people who keep everything happening for all of us at NovaScotian Crystal.
