I purchased an Annapolis shot glass almost 10 years ago. This summer, while celebrating our wedding, the rim got chipped, so I have been using it as a candle holder. Browsing your website, I saw that you can actually repair the chip, so I was wondering what is involved, how is it repaired, and how much?

The lead content of our crystal is 33%. It is also approximately 5% potassium carbonate, 60% silica and some trace elements.
Lead gives crystal the added sparkle, or increased refraction of light, for which it is admired; I think of it as a silvery sheen. It also makes it ring when you cheers, or sing when a wet finger circles the rim. It gives our crystal the solid heft that surprises people when they lift a crystal glass.
However, the most important reason lead is used in our batch is to make the crystal softer, or less brittle, which is why our craftsmen are able to hand cut each piece on a diamond wheel.

I'm glad you've been so creative in enjoying your NovaScotian Crystal - even after it was damaged.
In order to repair your piece, you need to get it to us, so drop it off locally or ship it to us. It is then repaired by one of our Craftsmen, using different tools. This service is free of charge (besides shipping costs - if necessary).
Keep in mind, some damage is unrepairable. If you live locally, stop by to discuss the damage in person, or call us toll free at 1-888-977-2797.
