On June 29 a few of us had the pleasure of attending a reception for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during the Royal Visit to Nova Scotia. It was indeed a great event, with special performances by the members of DRUM. We weren't there just for the show of course - after Her Majesty made her way down the red carpet to the show stage, she was welcomed by the Premier of Nova Scotia, the Honourable Darrell Dexter, who presented Her Majesty with the Celebration 2010 Commemorative Bowl made by... you guessed it!
The pattern incorporates a petal-like design to represent the joy of the occasion and a series of overlapping arches to represent the traditions honoured in this celebration. They symbolize Her Majesty’s abiding dignity and grace and the example that Her Majesty has set for Canadians and, indeed, all citizens of the Commonwealth.
